Ryan and I are busy getting McKynzie's Basket ready. I think that this is one of the *bonuses* of being a parent...holidays. Growing up, my Family celebrated most of the holidays (with the exception of Valentine's and St. Patricks Day). As a child, the Easter Bunny kept our basket out all of Easter Season and Easter *Eve* he came and filled the basket with goodies. He never hid our baskets, they were usually in the same place as the night before. Our basket was the same every year, one that my Grandma Becker made when I was a baby. We didn't get anything extravagent. Maybe some clothes or a toy..but we for sure received ALOT of candy in the eggs!! *And sometimes money!* Ryan had a different experience. He too had the same basket year to year, however it was not put out on display for decoration during the Easter Season. The Easter Bunny hid his basket..and sometimes very hard! He had the same things in the basket as we did...candy, small toys etc.
It is always interesting mixing together both of our family traditions into traditions of our very own! We picked out a basket for McKynzie..one that is fairly sturdy and should hold up for the next 18+ years! We picked out small toys for her and of course will fill the eggs with candy etc. This year, she is getting puffs and cheerios! We are starting a "candy carrot" tradition (I will post pictures later on) where this year we made Orange-Yogurt Bite carrots, goldfish carrots & baby cheeto carrots. Every year we will make "carrots" from the Easter Bunny and fill them with orange colored candy. We are also going to hide the basket and put in one "big" toy and some small ones...this year she got a ball (her favorite!) and bubbles. We are putting bows and socks in the eggs (we might keep the sock tradition going as well...but this hasn't been officially decided!) We even have Special "Easter Bunny" Eggs that we will use every year. Ryan and I picked out these really pretty glittery ones that we will have to keep hidden until Easter Day. The filler eggs will probably be new every year, seeing that those get lost easily and well
We hope to have an Easter Egg hunt tomorrow with her cousin. Earlier today she dyed Eggs with him and they had a BLAST. (Pictures to come!) We now have an Easter Egg Baby! haha. It was fun watching the kiddos play and explore...a great sensory activity! As McKynzie gets older, it will be a challenge for her to find her basket. I would also love to "plant jelly beans" on Easter Eve and have them "grow" into "lollypops" on Easter Morning. I have so many ideas..but right now, we are just excited to make this a fun new family tradition for our little family.
While we settle down for the night, please keep in your mind and hearts everything Jesus has done for us. He Has Risen! Rejoice and be Glad!
Happy Easter from our family to yours! May your day be joyful and full of love, laughter & memories.
Love,
Ryan, Brittany & McKynzie
